John M. Graves
g&h financial group founder & managing partner
John Graves takes pride in guiding his clients through the demanding retirement planning process with customized plans molded to withstand whatever the future holds. Raised in the bluegrass fields of Lexington, Kentucky, the heart of thoroughbred horse racing country, his parents and grandparents taught him that family and faith are the foundation of a successful life. John and his wife, Lindsay, with their three children, support that belief with their continuous involvement in the community and their faith. Family is what drives John to continue his passion for retirement planning. John has made it his mission to educate and teach others what they can do to ensure that their retirement goals turn into reality.
John specializes in retirement planning and working with clients pre- and post-retirement who desire to protect their money and ensure it is there when they need it most. John and his team at G&H Financial Group pride themselves on building and maintaining long-lasting relationships with their clients and families.
John’s career has always been in finance and asset protection. After law school he went to work for U.S. Bank N.A. Direct Lending in consumer financing as a federal regulatory officer. He worked his way up the ranks of U.S. Bank Direct Lending to oversee consumer financing policy for all 3500 branches of U.S. Bank across the country. From there, John opened his own successful estate planning and wealth management law firm with his wife, Lindsay Graves. In a nice and well-earned turn of events, his firm’s success led to being invited back to U.S. Bank to advise high-net worth clients on topics in asset protection and trust formation. This led to the creation of his own financial planning firm, which has grown over the years into G&H Financial Group.
Educationally, John earned his Juris Doctorate from DePaul University in Chicago, where he also served as law clerk for the Cook County State’s Attorney representing the Mayor, police officers, fire fighters and other first responders. For his work with police officers and first responders, the law school awarded him the Benjamin J. Hooks Distinguished Community Service Award. For undergraduate, he studied at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte earning a B.A. in International Studies with Minors in Economics and Japanese. He has also studied internationally, at both the Oita Diagakusei 大分大学 (Oita University) in Oita, Japan, and at the prestigious Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA) school of law in Buenos Aires, Argentina. As part of his employment at U.S. Bank, he attended and graduated from Community Bankers School. Always the lifelong learner, he is currently a student at the American College of Financial Planning and will be adding his CFP designation. John is a registered investment advisor with CoreCap Advisors, LLC.
